Fort Madalena, also known as Fort Madliena, is a polygonal fort located in the upmarket area of Madliena in Swieqi. Built on the site of a 15th-century chapel dedicated to Mary Magdalena, the fort’s name is derived from it’s historical grounds. Since 1991, the fort has been the headquarters and training school of the St. John Rescue Corps, a non-government organization that trains its members and the public in rescue techniques and services.
